How do I clean Buddhist prayer flags?
My sister gave me Tibetan Buddhist prayer flags from Bhutan, and over the summer, I have been storing them in my basement. When I went to take them out, they were very damp, and there were ink splotches everywhere. Is there any way to restore these beautiful prayer flags? Can they be cleaned, and if so, how?
Prayer flags aren’t meant to be treasured items, stored inside a house. They’re meant to be used.
You might do what the Tibetans do and put them outside – around your house, in a tree, or on a mountain pass.
Let the wind, rain, and sun clean them. Eventually the printing will fade away and they will shred into the wind. All things change.
